Lightness in the depth: experimental recording creative processes
"Аs soon as I dived into the portfolios, the art of Mina Dicheva created in me a profound envy to explore how I could echo hers. I continued to discover all the portfolios but those sensations stayed in me for a while. I was caught by the creativity, beauty, and this feeling of lightness in the depth, a topic that interests me and that I found in the work of Mina pouring everywhere. Also, I am really interested in animation. I decided to make a brainstorm on what her work evokes in me and then decided to focus on her riso animation.
The creative processes happened a lot in my mind but I could describe them as such: after the brainstorm I let myself sink and contemplate with sensations caused by this animated character for a few days. Those days were tough ones for me and I allowed myself to embrace low energy and a lot of wordplay in French which appeared in my mind. I explored lightness in the depth in different ways of expression – watercolour, dance, reflection time with friends.
After some time, I woke up one day with an idea to explore “how questions” and a desire to improvise with sound effects and I had a lot of fun doing it. I wanted to record the experiment in a more professional manner but rethought the idea and decided to let it go, to dare to send something that could seem unfinished, while questioning the nature of art itself. I edited the recording a bit but left it mostly as it was, an improvisation. I am really grateful for what this experience brought me."

"Letters to Intimacy and Alienation" by the sound artist Eyal Cohen is a series of audio letters without words, featuring curated field recordings. This recording comes from Klil, an ecological community in northern Israel, where people live in harmony with nature. Through binaural recordings, each episode explores the emotional spectrum of intimacy and alienation, immersing the audience in the soundscapes of this unique place.
Eyal's work inspired the multidisciplinary artist Explor nj to write a multilingual poem and record an audio version of it too. This collaboration is featured in DZ VIII.
